Color consultations are more than just a paint swatch; it’s the entire home

As an avid Decorist I am always learning new and innovative ways to blend old with new, contemporary with traditional and modern with Boho chic. I would not be doing my job as a home stager and designer if I did not constantly educate myself on to what is the best “merchandizing strategies” in the current housing market.

This is especially important when staging occupied homes as more often times than not there is a bit of “eclectic style” to the home. As stated in previous articles we live in our homes and surround ourselves with what we like, family treasures and heirlooms, and hobbies. When we put a sign in our yard, it is no longer a “home” so to speak, but merchandize.

However there is one key element in all styles of interior design and paramount to home staging: Color. Knowing what colors blend best with others, what colors invoke a transcendent, tranquil feel to a room, what colors sell a home better over others, which ones that do not. By choosing the correct color pallet in the home for sale and blending throughout the house ,the feel of the home is one of cohesion and flow.

The color wheel is not just wall color selection, but should include all aspects of interior design and home staging. It is always the first area of a home that should be addressed especially when placing on the market.
